Pastor Jerremy Newsletter
January 2008
Dear Reach Friends and Members:
Over the last few weeks many of you have had very busy lives. There have been parties, social engagements, traveling, programs, and a host of other activities that have consumed your time and energy. Following a period of time like this you may be hungering for a change of pace; desiring for routine; longing for a sense of peace and tranquility in your lives. I’m looking forward to this. In fact it’s been awhile since I’ve seen some of you and I miss you.
2008 is a time for us to get connected once again and be united as The Reach family. It’s a time to support each other and touch the lives of the people in the Tri-Cities for Jesus.
Small Groups
During November and December we experienced 40 Days of Community and we learned that we are “Better Together.” It was exciting to see five small groups spring up during 40 Days of Community and it is even more exciting to know that many of you are committed to continuing to meet together in small groups. It is my prayer that everyone in our church gets connected to a small group and has fellowship with other believers.
Following the “Holiday” break we are ready to start a fresh small group experience. If you would like to change small groups this is a great time to do that. If you would like to lead a small group this is a great time to do that as well. You can contact me for more information on how to do either of these.
Changes That Heal
January 12 we are going to begin a sermon series called “Growing Free: Thriving in a broken world.” This series will be complemented by a book that you can read called “Changes That Heal.” This book is written by Psychologist Dr. Henry Cloud and is a fantastic catalyst to help you have significant and real growth in your life. There is a video series and study guide that goes with this book that will make it a wonderful resource for small groups. While some small groups may choose to have other themes, this will be the theme emphasis for the next few weeks.
Pastor's Meetings
January 6-9 I will be in pastors’ meeting in North Idaho. If you need to contact me you are welcome to call me on my cell phone or email me.
Church Directory Photos
Althea Heaton and Dawna Krause are working on creating a Reach Church Directory complete with photos. Althea will have a set-up for taking pictures at church so be sure and have you and/or your families’ picture taken.
Easter Drama
Last year we had a great time putting together a dramatic presentation for Easter. This year we are planning to do this again and will begin practicing soon. If you would like to participate you can contact me and let me know of your interest.
Leadership Meeting
The January Leadership meeting will take place Thursday, January 3, 7:00 PM at the Burgdorffs’ home.
Website
After months of hard work, our website is on the cusp of some dramatic changes. Already there is a new calendar system that has been introduced. This system is going to make it possible for leaders to update information regularly through a login system. Keep checking the site to see the changes. We will be talking about how to use the site at our next leadership meeting.
Thanks!
Our Family (Jerremy, Ely, Dany, Jeremiah, Eliana, and Cecily) would like to say thank you for your love and support over this past year. At times our lives have been so full that we haven’t been able to share with you the deep gratitude we have for you. Specifically, here are some things we are thankful to you for: Thank you for a wonderful baby shower! Your gifts and support made a quick transition in our personal lives doable and special. Thank you to those of you who have come over to watch babies so Ely can get some rest or get caught up in house work. Thank you to those of you who have helped take care of babies at church. Thank you for your food, prayers, transportation, and other acts of kindness following my surgery. It was a crazy time to go down, but we survived. Thank you for making going to church possible for our boys when Ely is having health problems or needing to take care of babies. It means a lot. These are just a few general items. We have many more individualized thanks that can’t all be listed here. You are a blessing to us and we love you! We are excited to be a part of The Reach and are proud to call you family!
And now, may God bless each one of you in 2008. I look forward to serving with you and being the arms of God to Reach the world!
Blessings!
